Spread the Warmth

I want to tell you about Nomsa's current project.
We're doing a blanket drive for the next 2 months called "Spread the Warmth".

We will be partnering with churches, schools, clubs, and businesses to collect blankets to give the homeless in Orlando, Atlanta, & Nashville. We hope to connect well in these cities to establish relationship and hopefully start Nomsa communities in new locations.

There will be several drop off locations in all of the distribution cities (Atlanta, Orlando, Nashville - and possibly two other cities, stay tuned) where anyone wishing to donate blanket(s) can do so.

We would love to have you, your school, your church, or your business partner with us in this amazing community outreach. If you are interested, please email us: blankets@nomsa.org.

Even if you can't partner, but you have some great ideas for us or can connect us with someone you think may want to partner with us, please contact us.

We are launching the drop off locations & promotions for the blanket drive October 15th and will continue until December 1st, when the Orlando team will begin to collect blankets from all of the Orlando locations, and distribute to our homeless friends here in Orlando first.

We will take any remaining blankets and winter clothes and go to Atlanta. In Atlanta, the team will collect from our partners there, and distribute them to the homeless in downtown Atlanta.

A few days later, we will head to Nashville, TN where we are partnering with a church to start a new program there. We will collect blankets & winter clothes from places there and distribute to the homeless in Nashville as well.

Naive Ambition.

My heart in this thing...
is to see homelessness come to an end in this country.

Resources are necessary.
Nothing I'm doing right now is creating sustainable life change.
Yes, community is necessary. & beautiful.
Relationships and showing Jesus' love is essential.

But what about long term?

I want our community house.
I want our career training programs.
I desire to see sustainability.
I want more stories like Peter's.
I want the kids who hold the keys to my heart to grow up learning, living, loving.

This thing, this problem of perpetual homelessness, has a solution.
I aim to see it through.
He's given me this heart, this vision, these goals, and I know I can trust Him to provide.

Patience, trust, wisdom, love. Necessary things to see this come to life.

His promise is hope and future. Not just for you. Not just for me. But for my friends who don't smell so nice that will shiver on the streets tonight.

Right now, blankets, food, clothes, and community are things that are within reach for us to make happen.

& sometime soon, the rest of our hopes will take flight. The dreams will become reality, and we'll see a dent in this problem.

Maybe it's naive ambition to say that we can see homelessness come to an end in America. Or maybe it's sincere trust in His awesome grace & love.
